3 arrested after officer trapped in vehicle and over 100 cars block off Boston street

Police say they recovered two firearms at the scene.

Three suspects were arrested and two firearms recovered on Friday night after a group of individuals allegedly surrounded and trapped an officer inside his vehicle, officials say.

Officers responded to the area of 485 Canterbury St. in Boston for a report of an officer in trouble; he was trapped inside his vehicle as “people were jumping on his car and banging on the windows,” according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.

At the scene, officers discovered that Canterbury Street was blocked off by over 100 vehicles, the statement said.

Officers ran down the street in search of the officer in trouble, authorities said. Once the officers arrived, the group of people allegedly started running toward the vehicles in the area.

The DYS Corrections Officer told the other officers that he was blocked in by multiple vehicles, when one vehicle side swiped his truck and attempted to drive away. The group then began to surround his vehicle and bash on the windows, he said.

The officer was not injured and declined medical attention, police said. He exchanged paperwork with the operator of the other vehicle involved.

Officers say they saw one of the suspects enter a vehicle without a front license plate. After they requested his license and registration, the suspect put his hand on the gear shifter and refused to identify himself, the statement said.

The officers asked for the individual’s identity a second time, but he shifted the vehicle into reverse and drove away, nearly striking officers, officials said.

According to the statement, officers pursued the vehicle on foot and demanded that the suspect come out of the car, but he allegedly refused and reached toward a bag, causing the officers to draw their firearms and order the suspect and passengers not to move.

Officers removed all the occupants of the car and put them into handcuffs, the statement said, and recovered a firearm and three different license plates and key fobs from the vehicle.

While trying to disperse the crowd, officers approached another vehicle and asked its occupants for identification, the statement said. Two of them allegedly provided fake names.

Officers allegedly recovered a firearm and two stolen license plates from inside the car and found that the car was stolen.

Alan Ridenour, 19, of Marlborough; Mario Florian, 19, of Ashland; and Geraldo Colon, 21, of Framingham were arrested at 11:37 p.m. on Friday, the statement said. They were all expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.

Ridenour was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device.

Florian was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, and during a search of the suspect, officers also recovered approximately $6,680.
