State officials are investigating the death of a prisoner at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center (SBCC) in Lancaster.
The inmate, whose name has not been released, reportedly died Wednesday at the facility, according to the Massachusetts Department of Correction.
Details surrounding the inmate’s death were not released.
The death follows a Sept. 18 incident in which two officers were stabbed at SBCC, and three others were injured.
SBCC is a maximum security prison that houses roughly 700 inmates.
