The pedestrian injured in a Mashpee car crash that also killed a dog died early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Mashpee police said in a press release posted to Facebook that they responded to Job’s Fishing Road around 7:21 a.m. on Friday after reports of a pedestrian hit by a car. There, police said, they found a pedestrian lying in the street with “severe injuries.”
First responders took the victim to Falmouth Hospital, the statement said. Police also found a dog the pedestrian was walking that was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver remained on the scene during the investigation, police said.
In the social media post, Mashpee police expressed their “heartfelt” condolences for the victim and family. The victim has yet to be publicly identified, but police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
