A pedestrian suffered “severe injuries” when they were hit by a car in Mashpee on Friday morning, and the dog they were walking died, officials say.
At 7:21 a.m., the Mashpee Police and Fire departments responded to Job’s Fishing Road for a report of a single-car pedestrian crash, according to a statement from police.
Upon arrival, officers found a pedestrian lying in the northbound travel lane with “what appeared to be severe injuries,” the statement said.
The pedestrian was taken to Falmouth Hospital, and the victim’s dog died at the scene, police said.
The operator of the motor vehicle remained at the scene for the investigation, the statement said, and part of the road was closed while police investigated the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
