School bus driver accused of kidnapping gets home confinement

Justin Vose, 42, of Bedford, was indicted on three counts of kidnapping after allegations of inappropriate conduct at his job surfaced, according to NBC10 Boston.

A school bus driver who was accused of kidnapping is now under an order of home confinement.

Justin Vose, 42, of Bedford, was indicted on three counts of kidnapping after allegations of inappropriate conduct at his job surfaced, according to NBC10 Boston.

Vose works as a contracted bus driver for the Newton Early Education Childhood Program and Newton Public Schools contracted through JCS Transportation, according to the TV station.

Vose was originally flagged for investigation on May 28, after one of the students he picked up was dropped off late, according to the news outlet.

According to prosecutors, Vose allegedly entered the parking lot but spent time in a secluded area instead of going straight to the drop-off area, NBC10 said.

After tracking the GPS location of the bus, officials said Vose allegedly transported children between the ages of 3 and 5 multiple times to secluded areas and turned the audio and video recording in the bus off for 20 minutes at a time, according to the news station.

This was not authorized by the school district, the children’s parents, or the bus company, NBC10 said.

According to prosecutors, all of the children involved with these allegations struggle with communication or are semi-nonverbal.

Prosecutors cannot say for certain what happened during the time the audio and video recording was off. However, a search of Vose’s phone revealed he took photos with the children, according to the news station.

Vose was arraigned Friday in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn. He was ordered to be fitted with an ankle monitor and bail was set at $1,000.
