A Connecticut store selling former President Donald Trump-themed memorabilia was vandalized early Monday morning with spray paint and “a urine manure spray,” the store’s manager said.
The vandalism at New England for Trump, on Talcottville Road in Vernon, was reported to Vernon police just before 3 a.m. early Monday morning, police spokesperson Robert Marra confirmed. The investigation is active, he said Wednesday.
Ken Krajewski, the store manager, told Boston.com that two people came into the store the afternoon before the vandalism and sprayed urine or a liquid that smelled like urine on multiple hats. They then ran away, he said.
That night, the same two people came back, Krajewski said. The pair allegedly spray-painted “Nazi” and “fascist” multiple times on the siding and windows of the building. Krajewski said there were also images of genitalia on the Trump merchandise store.
The building is still spray-painted, and the store, which reopened Tuesday, covered the vandalism with flags.
Krajewki said the response from the community has been “outstanding,” and he’s received dozens of calls from people looking to help clean up or repair the store.
“It’s just sad that people just can’t walk away or voice their opinions like we do at all the rallies and convoys, but they had to make it criminal,” Krajewski said.
Earlier this week, Trump’s former chief of staff called him a fascist, according to national reports. John Kelly also said that, while in office, Trump reportedly indicated that he wants generals like Adolf Hitler’s and that the Nazi leader “did some good things.”
