Donald Trump supporters rallied in Hanson, Massachusetts, on Saturday to support a resident projecting a “Trump 2024” logo on a local water tower.
The town became aware of the political sign being projected at 228 High St. on Oct. 11, according to a statement from Town Administrator Lisa Green.
The individual’s actions, according to Green, violate the town’s sign regulations and bylaws which prohibit political signs to be displayed on municipal property. The town said it will charge the resident $100 for every day the image is projected. A cease-and-desist order was delivered to the resident on Oct. 12, but the individual continued to project the message.
“This misleads the public into believing that this activity is sanctioned by or condoned by the Town,” the statement said.

Trump supporters held a rally over the weekend, defending the resident, now known as “Mr. X,” and raised money to cover the costs of the daily fine.
“We just wanted to show our support for Mr. X and his light projection,” a supporter told WCVB.
Another supporter told the news station: “I cannot think of a better way to spend a beautiful, late fall Sunday afternoon than supporting a property owner in town as well as Donald Trump.”
The individual’s actions have the potential to cost a “significant amount” of taxpayer dollars, the statement said, which will likely not be covered by the $100 per day fine.
The town is using three spotlights — two from nearby towns — in an effort to overpower the Trump sign on the water tower.
“The Town of Hanson respects the free speech rights of all residents, and the right of all residents to express their political views, but not on Town property or in a manner that makes it appear that the Town of Hanson is endorsing any political candidate,” the statement said.
