Authorities are investigating a single-car crash that killed a driver in Kingston early Sunday morning.
According to Massachusetts State Police, troopers responded to a reported crash on Route 3 near Exit 17 around 12:30 a.m. The car’s driver and sole occupant, 20-year-old Plymouth resident Benjamin Ruley, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said officials received a call about the accident from the state’s 911 system, via a Mercedes Benz crash alert. State Police arrived at the scene and found a damaged exit sign and skid marks leading into the adjacent woods, but they couldn’t see a vehicle at first, according to the DA’s office. A trooper made their way into the woods and finally spotted the car’s taillights.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to State Police.
