A Stoughton man, who previously was convicted of multiple counts of sex trafficking, pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to sex trafficking four women following his release from prison in 2021.
Marvin Pompilus, 39, pleaded guilty to four counts of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion and one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, according to the office of Acting U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Joshua Levy. Pompilus was arrested on the charges in November last year.
“Marvin Pompilus admitted today that after being released from state prison for sex trafficking, he started doing it again, targeting and exploiting four vulnerable women using violence and threats to force them to engage in commercial sex,” Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Boston Division, said in a statement. “What he did is unconscionable, and the harm he’s inflicted on these women is immeasurable.”
Previously, Pompilus was convicted in February 2018 in Suffolk Superior Court of multiple counts of trafficking a person for sexual servitude and deriving support for prostitution. He served six years in prison and was released in October 2021.
Prosecutors alleged that “almost immediately” he returned to sex trafficking, using physical and sexual violence, verbal abuse, and withholding drugs from his substance-dependent victims to force them to engage in commercial sex acts, collecting all the money for himself.
Pompilus could receive as much as 20 years to life in prison for the charges he pleaded guilty to; he will return to court for sentencing on Jan. 23.
