Vehicle strikes 2 pedestrians in Lexington, police say

Both pedestrians were taken to local hospitals, police said.

Lexington police shut down part of Mass. Ave. on Tuesday after a car struck two pedestrians.

A vehicle struck and injured two pedestrians in Lexington on Tuesday, police said. 

Officers responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Bow Street around 9:50 a.m., a spokesperson from the Lexington Police Department said.

According to footage from Channel 7, the car involved was a pickup truck.

The spokesperson said the driver was heading off of Bow Street and began to turn east on Massachusetts Avenue when they struck two pedestrians.

Police closed down Massachusetts Avenue between Charles Street and Taft Avenue while local officers and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction investigated the scene.

Both victims were transported to local hospitals, police said. The spokesperson confirmed one victim had minor injuries, while the other had “more serious” injuries.

Lexington police warned drivers to avoid the area in a social media post. A later update said police cleared the road around 1:45 p.m.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, the spokesperson said. The crash remains under investigation.
