The days are counting down to Election Day, but there’s still time to register to vote in Massachusetts if you haven’t already.
The deadline to register in the Bay State or ensure you have the correct address on file with the Commonwealth is Oct. 26, according to the office of the Massachusetts Secretary of State.
“Your voter registration is tied to your address, which means you need to re-register if you move,” the office said in a statement on X. “Your address determines your polling place and the candidates on your ballot. Make sure your address is up to date by October 26!”
Massachusetts voters can register, or check their registration, at RegisterToVoteMA.com. Individuals are eligible to vote in Massachusetts if they are a U.S. citizen, a resident of the state, aged 18 or older, and not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction.
According to the secretary of state’s office, residents can register to vote online if they have a signature on file with the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. Otherwise, people can register to vote by mail or in-person at offices of their town clerk, election commission, board of registrars, the state’s Elections Division, or at regional offices of the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
Early voting in the state will run from Oct. 19 until Nov. 1. The deadline for applying for a mail-in ballot is Oct. 29.
Those who have already applied to vote by mail will likely receive their ballot by mid-October, according to the state.
“Track your ballot at VoteInMA.com,” the state’s Elections Division wrote on X. “Ballots are listed as ‘pending’ until mailed. You should receive it within 7 days of the mailing date.”
