An investigation is underway after a car crashed into a Cape Cod post office on Wednesday, destroying the building’s front entrance.
The incident happened just after 1 p.m. at the Yarmouth Port post office. Yarmouth police received a report that a vehicle had “accelerated through a parking space” and into the building.
Police shared a photo of the scene in a Facebook post, which showed a red Cadillac lodged in the building’s entrance.
The car “came to rest almost entirely in the post office lobby. The elderly driver was not injured,” police said.
A postal clerk was the only person present at the time of the crash, according to a Boston Globe report. They were not injured.
