A 27-year-old Rhode Island has been arrested and charged with the murder of his mother, according to authorities.
Bryan Wilson of Narragansett was arrested on Monday and charged with second-degree domestic murder and violation of a protective order, police said in a statement.
Police said officers responded on Monday around 1:26 p.m. to 97 Inkberry Trail for a report of a woman who was dead under suspicious circumstances. At the scene, the woman was pronounced dead and Wilson was taken into custody.
Wilson was arraigned Tuesday in the 4th Division of the District Court.
Prosecutors said during his arraignment that an argument between Wilson and his mother led to a physical confrontation during which the 27-year-old strangled his mother to death, NECN reports. They allege he then called 911 and confessed, according to the station.
The case was referred to a grand jury and a status conference is scheduled for Oct. 9.
Police did not release the name of Wilson’s mother and said the investigation is ongoing.
