A concession stand for a youth football league in Kingston was broken into on Saturday, authorities said.

At 11:26 a.m., Kingston police responded to a report of a breaking and entering at the concession stand at the Opachinski Athletic Fields on 105 Pottle St., according to Detective Lieutenant Michael Skowyra.

The stand belongs to Silver Lake Youth Football, a nonprofit organization that provides football programs to over 150 young people in the Kingston, Halifax, and Plympton towns, according to their website.

“Just in a few short weeks it’s been open we’ve made some awesome memories there,” Jackie Arena, manager of concessions, told Boston.com.

An investigation revealed that those responsible broke several windows of the concession stand sometime between Sept. 20 and 21 to access the snacks and drinks, police said.

About $600 worth of merchandise was allegedly stolen.

“I was extremely shocked,” Arena said. ”I just didn’t believe it at first.”

Arena said she is grateful for the community’s response.

“There are numerous other small businesses in town that have stepped up and donated a significant amount of money, not only to replenish what was stolen, but to help with the repairs,” she said.

No suspects have been identified at this time. Police said they will be increasing patrols of the area.

“It is unfortunate that someone would choose to victimize a concession stand which is often run by donations and volunteerism, and is dedicated to the enjoyment of the community during sporting events,” Skowyra said.
