Officers busted a loud party with over 50 people in Mattapan and seized three firearms on Monday, officials say.
At 4:35 a.m., officers responded to the area of 24 Rexford St. for a report of a party, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.
Officers, who had responded to the same address for previous incidents, arrived at the scene and located the bulkhead basement door which was padlocked from the outside, preventing those inside from leaving the building, authorities said.
Officers knocked on the door multiple times, but nobody answered the door.
“While on scene, officers could hear the audibly blaring smoke alarms coming from inside the residence,” the statement said. “Officers, now fearing life-threatening conditions, made forced entry into a side door which was also padlocked.”
Once inside, the officers saw over 50 people and a “bar constructed that was fully stocked, multiple hookahs, and air conditioners operating without proper ventilation,” police said.
Police started to smell gas and open flames as they were speaking with guests, so they called the Boston Fire Department and told the occupants to exit the building, authorities said.
Officers reported finding three discarded firearms in the basement: a Ruger LC9 with an obliterated serial number with four rounds in the magazine, a Polymer 80 with one round in the chamber and twelve rounds in the magazine, and a Sig Sauer P238 with five rounds in the magazine.
Officers also reported recovering a large vape and three credit cards with different names from a male suspect, officials said. A second suspect jumped off the porch and resisted arrest but was eventually placed into handcuffs, according to police.
Fitzgerald Custodio-Pimentel, 31, of Jamaica Plain was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing, resisting arrest, and interfering with a police officer, police said.
Jorge Vargas-Jimenez, 35, of Mattapan, was also arrested and charged with three counts of receiving stolen property, disorderly conduct, trespassing, resisting arrest, and interfering with a police officer.
Custodio-Pimentel and Vargas-Jimenez are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
