A three-car crash killed a dog and injured four people along the Scenic Highway in Bourne Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
At around 12:43 p.m., Boure police officers responded to a multi-car crash on the Scenic Highway near Edgehill Road, according to a statement from the department.
One of the three vehicles involved in the crash had a large dog that died at the scene due to its injuries in the crash.
Two people were in each vehicle, police said, and ambulances transported four of them to area hospitals with nonlife-threatening injuries. Two others declined hospital transportation.
A preliminary investigation by Bourne police showed that one of the vehicles attempted an improper left turn while exiting a rest area and collided with a car traveling eastbound. Both vehicles ended up in the westbound lane, where the collision with the third vehicle happened.
Police called Bourne’s Department of Natural Resources to assist with the dog. Wareham EMS and Brester Ambulance provided mutual aid assistance.
The crash remains under investigation by the Bourne Police Department.
