A 24-year-old woman died in a collision on Route 44 in Taunton on Sunday morning, officials say.
At 1:24 a.m., a gray 2015 Infiniti operated by a 27-year-old Fall River man was traveling eastbound on Route 44 in the area of 608 Winthrop St. when it hit a tractor-trailer from behind, according to a statement from the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities identified the deceased individual as Mallory Humphreys of Taunton, who was a passenger in the Infiniti.
The Fall River driver was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries and the tractor-trailer driver, a 39-year-old Brockton man, was uninjured, the statement said.
The crash remains under investigation by State Police and Taunton police.
