Authorities are investigating a boat crash that occurred last month in the area off Grape Island, which is off the coast of Weymouth and Hingham. Two people were critically injured in the crash, and one of them succumbed to her injuries on Sept. 7, officials say.
On Aug.16 at 12:43 p.m., Weymouth and Hingham police and fire marine units responded to a report of a boat collision between a 38-foot Sea Ray motorized vessel and a 21-foot Pisces sailing vessel, according to a statement from the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office. The two critically injured individuals were taken to hospitals, the statement said.
Patricia Cicalese, 70, of East Walpole died on Sept. 7, and the other victim is still hospitalized and in critical condition, according to authorities.
The crash remains under investigation.
