TOP COLLEGES:

Most people will not be surprised to learn that Massachusetts universities and colleges performed well on Forbes’ “America’s Top Colleges” 2024-2025 list.

Of the 500 schools ranked, 30 are in Massachusetts, with 11 making it to the top 100.

However, the No. 1 spot didn’t go to a local school but to Princeton University, for the second year in a row. But the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranked third, and Harvard University ranked eighth.

Forbes ranked the schools based on alumni salaries, debt, graduation rates, return on investment, retention rates, academic success, and its own “American Leaders List,” including Forbes 30 Under 30 and Forbes 400.

Also notable is that Rice University in Texas debuted in the top ten, going from No. 22 to No. 9 last year to this year. Six historically Black schools landed in the top 500, up from three the previous year.

Although Babson College in Wellesley ranked No. 96 on this list, the Wall Street Journal recently ranked it second in the nation.
