New Hampshire State Police are investigating the death of a Concord man at a pond in Northwood on Wednesday, officials say.
At about 5:37 p.m., Marine Patrol responded to a residence on Jenness Pond for a reported drowning, according to a statement from New Hampshire State Police.
Police said the man was found unconscious and not breathing in the water in front of a camp.
A family member who found him called 911 and conducted life-saving measures before emergency personnel took over upon arrival, the statement said.
The man, identified as George Chapman, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation shows that Chapman may have suffered a “medical episode” before falling into the water from a dock, authorities say.
Marine Patrol was assisted at the scene by members of the Northwood Police Department, Northwood Fire and Rescue Department, the Pittsfield Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Anyone with additional information regarding the incident is asked to contact New Hampshire State Police.
