Three crashes involving motorcycles since Sunday in Massachusetts have left two people dead and others with serious injuries.
The most recent crash occurred Tuesday afternoon in Taunton.
Just before 2 p.m., emergency personnel responded to 150 Charles F. Colton Road for reports of a single-vehicle motorcycle crash, city police said. The driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle — a 39-year-old East Taunton man who has not been publicly identified — was taken by ambulance to Morton Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation.
Earlier Tuesday, at about 10:35 a.m., emergency personnel in Carver — also located in southeastern Massachusetts — responded to a crash at South Meadow Road and Ward Street, according to local police. A 1990 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2022 Toyota Camry were involved in the crash, which is still under investigation.
The Harley’s operator, a 69-year-old Carver man, was seriously injured, police said. He was taken by ambulance to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth and then flown in a medical helicopter to a Boston hospital.
The first crash happened at about 5 p.m. Sunday on Route 2 in Charlemont in Western Massachusetts. The crash, also under investigation, involved a motorcycle and an SUV.
Husband and wife Robert and Sheila Rombeiro, of Pittsfield, were riding on the motorcycle with Robert driving, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.
Sheila, 72, was taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, where she died. Robert, 69, was medflighted to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with undisclosed injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 69-year-old Greenfield woman, was also taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center with injuries, officials said.
