The Dracut Police and Fire departments are offering up to $5,000 for further information about a man who used fireworks to set a porta potty on fire at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Aug. 18.
At 8:45 p.m., the Dracut Fire Department was called to respond to a fire at the park at 80 Broadway Road, police said.
Upon arrival, authorities said they saw a porta potty burning — the only handicapped-accessible one in the park.
Officials said that video surveillance showed a man setting off fireworks inside the porta potty, before the call to the department was made.
Authorities are working to identify the man in the video who left the scene in a silver Toyota Corolla with New Hampshire license plates.
The money would be rewarded through the Arson Watch Reward Program, which pays people who provide information to “prevent or detect an arson crime,” according to the program’s website.
Anyone with information is asked to call Dracut police at 978-957-2123 or the Arson Watch Reward Hotline at 800-682-9229.
