A resident died in a house fire on North Walker Street in Taunton on Thursday afternoon, authorities say.
At 3:34 p.m., Taunton firefighters were called to 19 North Walker St. to respond to a structure fire, according to a statement from the department.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters saw “smoke showing from a home and made a quick, aggressive interior attack with a hose line,” the statement said.
While trying to control the fire, firefighters found an adult occupant of the house who was pronounced dead at the scene. The fire was “knocked down” within 10 minutes, authorities said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
