A car struck and killed a 57-year-old pedestrian in Brockton on Tuesday night, the Plymouth County District Attorney said in a statement.
The victim was Domingos Gomes of New Bedford, the DA said.
Police received reports of a pedestrian hit at the intersection of North Quincy and Hovenden Streets around 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, the statement said. Authorities transported Gomes to Brockton Hospital, where he died of his injuries, the DA said.
The statement said the driver of the car that allegedly hit Gomes stayed on the scene and was the one who called 911.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, the DA said.
