Rye, New Hampshire, police and fire personnel responded to a report of an unconscious male surfer who was taken out of the water by fellow surfers at Jenness State Beach on Tuesday, officials say.
At about 3:30 p.m., the departments received a call about the incident, according to a statement from Rye police and fire.
Nearby surfers pulled the unconscious individual from the water; he was then given life-saving care by Rye lifeguards, the statement said.
The fire department arrived and transported the man to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, authorities said.
Officials said a preliminary investigation found that the man suffered a “medical emergency” while surfing. His current condition wasn’t released.
