Authorities identified the man whose body was pulled from the water near the Moakley Courthouse on Monday as a 24-year-old Brighton resident who was reported missing last week.
Boston police responded to 1 Courthouse Way for a report of a person in the water around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, the department said.
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office identified the deceased on Tuesday as Wedefegerson Desir, 24, of Brighton. Desir was reported missing last week.

Boston police said Desir was last seen on Sunday, Aug. 11 at 2 a.m. at the Barking Crab, where he left his belongings. The eatery at 88 Sleeper Street is adjacent to the courthouse.
Police said last week that Desir suffered from mental health issues and did not have his medication at the time of his disappearance.
Desir graduated from Medford High School in 2019, where he played defensive back for the football team, according to the school.
An online fundraiser is underway to support Desir’s family with the cost of his funeral.
“Wade was a light in all of our lives,” the fundraiser organizers wrote.
