A worker was rushed to the hospital on Monday after they were injured in a gas explosion during a demolition project in Lynn, NBC10 Boston reports.
According to the station, the worker is expected to survive following the incident at an industrial property on Lynnway. Officials told the station that the worker for a private contracting company was cutting a pipe when the explosion — a “flash from some trapped gas” — took place.
Officials said there was no threat to the public, and according to NBC10 Boston, a National Grid representative said the utility shut off the gas as a safety measure, though the incident was not related to its infrastructure.
According to NBC10 Boston, officials said the unoccupied building at the site was structurally sound following the incident.
