Three people were killed and two more injured in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Route 101 in Candia.
According to New Hampshire State Police, the crash occurred when a 2010 Toyota Tundra was traveling east at a high rate of speed and side swiped a 2018 Nissan Sentra, “striking a guardrail on the eastbound side, veering across the center median and into the westbound lanes of travel, then striking a 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer head-on.”
The drivers of the Tundra and Wagoneer — the two vehicles that collided head on — died at the scene. A passenger in the Wagoneer was taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester, where they also died. Candia is northeast of Manchester.
The driver and passenger of the side-swiped Sentra suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.
Police did not release the names of the deceased in their initial release. The crash remains under investigation.
Update: New Hampshire State Police released the names of the deceased Monday: “The driver of the Toyota Tundra has been identified as Michael Wescott, 59, of Greenville, NH. The driver of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer has been identified as Richard Courville, 77, of North Hampton, NH. The passenger of the Jeep has been identified as Denise Courville, 65, of North Hampton, NH.”
