Hundreds of thousands at stake over lottery tickets about to expire

Lottery winners have one year from the date of purchase to claim their winnings.

Check under couch cushions, in car side compartments and in the junk drawer for lottery tickets, because some unclaimed prizes from last year are about to expire.

Two $100,000 Mass Cash prizes and one $50,000 Powerball prize from tickets sold about a year ago are about to expire, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery.

The three tickets include a $100,000 Mass Cash ticket (winning numbers 1-15-22-27-32) sold at A&A Gas Express in Holyoke on Sept. 4, 2023, a $50,000 Powerball ticket (winning numbers 9-14-20-23-63, 1) sold at Route 99 Smoke Shop in Everett on Sept. 6, 2023 and a $100,000 Mass Cash ticket (winning numbers 3-12-14-18-25) sold at Sunoco in Brookline on Sept. 12, 2023.

Lottery winners have one year from the date of purchase to claim their winnings. These prizes can be claimed at Lottery claim centers in Braintree, Dorchester, Lawrence, New Bedford, West Springfield, and Worcester. If none of these prizes are claimed the funds will become part of the Lottery’s net profit.

This net profit is then returned to the Commonwealth for distribution, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery website
