Part of Storrow Drive was littered with debris and down to one lane of traffic Friday morning after a truck struck an overpass and rolled over.
The crash happened at the westbound Bowker Overpass near the exit for the Fenway neighborhood, Massachusetts State Police wrote on social media shortly after 6 a.m.
“For the safety of all, traffic is down to one lane and there is one lane closed on the exit,” State Police wrote. The truck was removed and all lanes re-opened at about 7:15 a.m., the agency said in a statement.
Photos and video from NBC10 Boston and WCVB show the truck on its side with its roof sheared off and pieces of its cargo scattered throughout the roadway.
The truck driver, a 48-year-old man from New Bedford, was cited for the crash, State Police said.
Traffic Alert #Boston. The driver of this truck refused medical care after striking the Bowker overpass on Storrow Drive. This is Storrow West at the Fenway exit. This will be here for quite some time. (5:45AM) 📸@pictureboston pic.twitter.com/rnENY2tNrm
