Two 13-year-old boys were charged with armed robbery and assault and battery in East Boston on Saturday, according to authorities.
At 5:01 p.m., officers arrested two juvenile males in the area of 1 Central Square while responding to a report of an assault and battery in progress, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.
Upon arrival, the officers said they saw a juvenile male victim sitting outside the store. He had allegedly been pushed to the ground by one of the suspects, who ripped the victim’s chain from his neck while holding a knife, the statement said.
The other suspect was next to the victim and holding a knife as well, officials said.
While Boston EMS was assessing the victim, the suspects returned to the scene, police said. Two juveniles were placed into handcuffs and a third suspect was released.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the department.
The two 13-year-olds were both arrested and charged with delinquency, the statement said, and they are expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
One was also charged with armed robbery and the other with assault and battery.
