An Everett couple were hit by a car and killed just feet away from their young daughter in Florida Wednesday, according to local authorities.

Ronald Jeanbaptiste, 54, and Yanique Pierre, 46, died at the intersection of South Florida Avenue and Imperial Boulevard in Lakeland, Fla. Wednesday night. While attempting to cross South Florida Avenue eastbound in a crosswalk, they were struck by a white Toyota Yaris driven by a 22-year-old Lakeland resident, police said.

Officers responded at about 10:49 p.m. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Jeanbaptiste and Pierre were pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no environmental factors involved, and she did not have any obvious signs of impairment at the scene. The road was shut down for about four hours after the deadly crash.

The investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed.
