Seagulls are known for stealing french fries, chips, sandwiches, and snacks, sometimes straight out of the hands of beachgoers.

But this past weekend, one seagull on Nantucket apparently took it further.

The Nantucket Current first reported that Nantucket Memorial Airport manager Noah Karberg posted on social media that a seagull swooped in and stole his wallet from the car while at the mid-island Stop & Shop on Sunday.

He posted to the Nantucket Year Round Community Facebook page, “If you find it you can keep the cash, and I’ll offer a $100 cash reward for return of my cards and license.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, he emailed Boston.com to say that his wallet had still not been found.

“However, it contained nothing irreplaceable,” he wrote. “All the coverage has been in good fun!”

And yes, there is video proof that this happened. In a video provided to the Nantucket Current, you can see the seagull on a roof pecking at the wallet before it grabs it and flies off with it.

The video ends with a western-style “Wanted” sign featuring a seagull that reads “Wanted for grand larceny on Nantucket Airport manager. Last seen airport gas/stop and shop area. Report to NPD immediately.”
