Hanson man arrested, charged with exposing himself to juveniles in Whitman

Police allege Paul St. Martin committed similar acts in Marshfield, Belmont, and Braintree.

A 59-year-old Hanson man was recently arrested and charged with exposing himself to two young girls in Whitman, with police alleging he committed similar acts in Marshfield, Belmont, and Braintree.

Paul St. Martin was arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court on one count of open and gross lewdness, according to Whitman police.

Whitman police said officers responded on July 27 to the area of Route 18 and Route 27 for a report that a man exposed himself to two juvenile girls. The responding officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect, who the girls described as a man in his 50s in a white sedan, the department said. They told police that he pulled up next to them in the vehicle with Indiana license plates as they were walking down the street and exposed himself, driving off when they noticed him.

Police said investigators determined the vehicle was a Chevy Malibu sedan and issued a “be on the lookout announcement” to area law enforcement agencies. A nearby police department responded the next day, noting that a similar incident occurred in the town and witnesses had taken down the vehicle’s license plate, Whitman police said.

Using the number, Whitman police said, investigators determined the vehicle was recently rented by St. Martin and stopped the 59-year-old as he was pulling into his home parking area.

“Through their investigation and in speaking with area police departments, officers determined that St. Martin allegedly committed similar acts in Marshfield, Braintree and Belmont,” police said. “Arrest warrants have been filed by the Marshfield and Braintree police departments.”
