A man from Roslindale is facing gun charges in connection with a Monday shooting near the Jackson Square MBTA station that left a man with life-threatening injuries.
Christian Coloma, 25, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and refusal to submit to a police officer, according to Boston police.
Boston police responded around 2:38 p.m. on Monday to a call reporting a person shot near 245 Centre St. At the scene, they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound, the department said. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition on Monday evening.
The suspect in the shooting, later identified by police as Coloma, was spotted fleeing the scene on a motorized scooter toward Columbus Avenue, according to police.
“Officers began to canvass the area and observed the suspect operating a scooter on Amory Street,” police said. “Officers were able to follow the suspect towards Union Avenue and Rockvale Circle.”
According to police, Coloma allegedly then abandoned the scooter and started to run from officers, before he was stopped on Rockvale Circle and arrested.
“Officers recovered a discarded firearm from the suspect’s flight path,” police said.
Coloma was arraigned Tuesday in Roxbury District Court and was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, according to court records.
Attorney information for Coloma was not immediately available.
