A 17-year-old has been cited in connection with a serious crash that occurred earlier this month in Carlisle, authorities say.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the teen, who was driving a Nissan Altima, was traveling on North Road on July 15 when they allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at Rutland Street, crashing into a Nissan Rouge, according to a statement from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
A 6-year-old boy, who had been ejected from the second vehicle, his mother’s car, suffered serious injuries.
The child was transported in a medical aircraft to Children’s Hospital in Boston, where he is still hospitalized, the DA’s office said Wednesday. The boy’s mother and the 17-year-old were taken to local hospitals.
The 17-year-old has been cited with negligent operation and failure to stop at a stop sign and will be summonsed to Juvenile District Court on Aug. 7, authorities said.
