Officers arrested a man they say was waving an ax and a stolen juice bottle in the air in Charlestown Wednesday afternoon, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.
At about noon on Wednesday, officers assigned to Charlestown and two detail officers arrested Alan Badgett, 33, of Boston, after responding to a report of a threatening person in the area of 27 Austin St., police say.
The suspect stole a juice bottle and multiple water bottles after threatening security that he could “take whatever he wanted,” the statement said.
Boston Police Operations advised the officers of the ax and bottle Badgett was holding. Two officers on Main Street rushed toward Austin Street to de-escalate the suspect, authorities say.
The officers recovered the ax by performing a pat frisk, they said.
Badgett is expected to be arraigned in Charlestown District Court.
