80-year-old man killed in Revere house fire

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.

An 80-year-old man died Monday morning in a house fire in Revere , according to officials.

The Revere Fire Department responded to 104 Patriot Parkway around 5:45 a.m. for a report of a fire, according to a joint statement by Revere Fire Chief Christopher Bright, Revere Police Chief David Callahan, State Fire Marshal Jon Davine, and Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find heavy smoke and residents who told them that an 80-year-old man with limited mobility was still inside. 

According to officials, firefighters forced entry into the residence to rescue the man and began life-saving efforts at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and no one else was injured.

“On behalf of the Revere Fire Department, I want to express our heartfelt condolences to this man’s family and loved ones,” Bright said in a statement. “This was a tragic event for them and our community.”

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation, but officials said on Monday that it is so far not considered to be suspicious.
