Bestselling mystery author Brendan DuBois, 64, of Exeter, turned himself in following an investigation into his alleged possession of child pornography.

In March, the Exeter Police Department, in conjunction with the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, opened a search into the crime of possession of child sexual abuse materials in the town of Exeter, according to a press release from the police department.

According to the police, a search warrant was executed for DuBois, who was arrested on Wednesday and turned himself into the Exeter Police Department.

DuBois is charged with six Class A felony complaints of possession of child pornography. He is being held for preventative detention.

This includes his latest title, “Cross Down,” which was released last month.

DuBois co-authored nine books with the well-known thriller writer James Patterson. According to Publishers Weekly, Patterson was the first author to sell 100 million books across all print formats last year. BookScan began tracking sales in 2004.
