A fundraiser is underway to support the family of a 3-year-old girl who was pulled from a Georgetown pool on Sunday.
According to organizers of the GoFundMe page, the toddler, Julianna, is in the pediatric intensive care unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and remains on life support though she has shown brain activity.
“We are looking for donations toward lawyer fees and anything Julianna will need medically or physically,” the organizers wrote.
First responders arrived at the Georgetown home in response to reports that the 3-year-old had been submerged underwater in an above-ground pool on Sunday afternoon for more than three minutes. She was unresponsive when they arrived, but firefighters restored her pulse and breathing by performing CPR.
The incident is being investigated by the Georgetown fire and police departments.
Organizers of the fundraisers urged wellwishers to send flowers or cards for the 3-year-old to wake up to.
“Julianna loves when people draw her pictures, if you have a little one who likes to draw please feel free to send a piece to hang up on the wall in her room,” they wrote. “We want to make sure she knows how loved she is by so many people.”
As of Wednesday evening, more than $1,200 had been donated to the fundraiser.
