Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash on I-195 in Seekonk on Tuesday that left a 36-year-old Springfield man dead.
Troopers responded to the report of the crash on the westbound side of the highway, before Exit 1, around 1:20 p.m., according to state police. At the scene, police closed all three lanes of traffic to aid the efforts to rescue the occupants of the three vehicles involved in the crash.
Police said the operator of a Toyota Highlander, a 36-year-old man from Springfield, died from his injuries. The driver of a Ford F650, a 45-year-old North Easton man, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of a tractor-trailer involved in the crash, a 31-year-old from Hallandale, Florida, was not injured.
The lanes were reopened and the scene cleared just after 6:30 p.m., police said.
The exact cause and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
