A large crowd of unruly Celtic fans climbed on top of four vehicles belonging to Boston firefighters, damaging them during the team’s championship parade on Friday, according to a Boston police report.
Sam Dillion, president of Boston Firefighters Local 718, condemned the vandalism on social media and asked for help finding those responsible.
“Boston Local 718 Firefighters returned to their firehouse after working the Celtics parade on Friday to find their personal vehicles severely damaged & vandalized,” Dillon said in a social media post on Sunday afternoon. “We will not tolerate the disrespect of our Members. We’re asking for the public’s help to ID those responsible.”

A Boston Police officer responded to 941 Boylston St. at 6:14 p.m. on Friday for several reports of vandalism, the police report said.
On arrival, the police officer spoke with members of the Boston Fire Department from Engine 33, who reported that several people who were there to watch the Boston Celtics parade damaged their vehicles between 11 and 1:30 p.m.
The report said one vehicle sustained damage to its hood, roof, moon roof, and windshield, and scratches were present throughout. A second vehicle had damage to its roof, driver’s mirror, tailgate cover, and front bumper, and scratches were also visible around the entire car. A third vehicle had damage to its hood, roof, tailgate cover, and scratches around the car. The fourth vehicle had damage to its roof.
The report said the damaged vehicles included a gray Chevrolet Traverse, a blue Chevrolet Silverado, a Ford F-150, and a red Ford Escape. It did not state which vehicles received which damage.
Police did not respond immediately as to whether this was the only reported vandalism during the parade.
The firefighters’ union asked that anyone with information contact the non-emergency number of the Boston Police Department, District 4 Back Bay, at 617-343-4250.
