A 69-year-old Plymouth man with memory issues was found dead in Plymouth after an extensive four-day search, police announced Saturday.
Rodney Riviello was found dead outdoors in Plymouth Saturday afternoon. He had been missing since Tuesday. The town’s police and fire chiefs thanked residents who helped search for the man.
“The members of the Plymouth Police Department and Plymouth Fire Department offer their sincere condolences to Mr. Riviello’s family and loved ones,” the chiefs’ statement said.
Riviello was last seen Tuesday leaving Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Dozens of officers searched the five-mile radius around the hospital, Plymouth police said the following day.
Officials said they will release an additional update about the incident soon.
Dan Riviello, Provincetown’s assistant town manager and Riviello’s son, told the Cape Cod Times that his father didn’t have diagnosed dementia but struggled with memory issues.
“He’s a very simple man. He likes to sit in his chair and watch his TV shows,” Dan told the Times before his father was found. “The (search) response was incredible.”
