A 23-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly attacking a MBTA bus driver on Thursday, according to officials.
According to a MBTA transit police post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the woman allegedly physically attacked the bus driver after being unhappy with where the bus driver dropped her off. She was then placed into custody following the incident, according to the statement.
The woman struck the bus driver with both her phone and a closed fist, transit police Superintendent Richard Sullivan told The Boston Globe. The bus driver had been driving on the silver line of the T, according to the newspaper.
“Officers were already on scene and were alerted to the incident,” Sullivan said, according to the Globe.
#MBTA bus operators perform an invaluable public service. The Transit Police Department take assaults on operators with the utmost seriousness. We will work w/the District Attorney to ensure the person responsible is held accountable for this senseless act of violence. https://t.co/5M3yEdHQBd
