Police are investigating the death of a 15-year-old girl in Lowell, according to officials.
At around 6 p.m. Friday, Lowell police received a 911 call about the body of a 15-year-old girl found inside a Lawrence Street apartment, according to a statement from the Middlesex District Attorney’s office.
The girl was found by a family member who told police there were traumatic injuries on her body, according to officials.
Police said when they arrived at the scene, they found the victim had what seemed to be gunshot wounds.
Bullet shell casings were also located at the scene, according to the statement.
Officials say this death is being treated as an “apparent homicide.”
“This is a shock. It’s got to be a shock to the family, the whole community. It’s all they’re talking about,” said Lowell resident Michele Bragel to WCVB.
