Hummer winds up in the drink during dinghy launch in Charlestown

Two men were attempting to put a dinghy in the water Sunday when their Hummer SUV slipped into the harbor.

On Sunday, an incident in Charlestown landed two men in deep water.

Michael Smith and Mike Pisiello were reportedly using a Hummer SUV at a boat ramp to place a dinghy into the harbor when the vehicle began to slip.

“I went out and unhooked it, and as soon as he started backing up (the boat) and taking the weight off the trailer, the car just started floating,” said Smith, according to 7News.

The Hummer began to roll backward and float, despite Smith pressing on the brakes.

Pisiello told the news station that he was “freaking out” as the back of the SUV began to lift.

Smith reportedly made a quick escape by jumping out of a window and getting on the boat. The men weren’t injured in the incident.

The SUV spent several hours submerged until Boston police divers were able to help remove it.
