Two people died when a two-alarm fire broke out at a Worcester home on Tuesday night.
Around 11:30 p.m., the Worcester Fire Department responded to the scene at 3 Hancock St. after receiving reports that people were trapped inside the structure.
Firefighters arrived to see “heavy fire on the first floor with conditions deteriorating,” according to a press release.
Crews entered the first floor and began extinguishing fires and searching for people.
They located two residents on the first floor and removed them from the building. Worcester EMS transported them to a local hospital, but they both died from their injuries.
Two firefighters were also taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The fire, which remains under investigation, displaced four adults and three children.
