A former Boston teacher from Quincy was arrested last week for allegedly possessing child porngraphy, federal prosecutors said.
Carter Peaseley, 40, was arrested on Thursday and is charged with possession and receipt of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. According to court documents, investigators found 243 images of child sexual abuse materials on his computer and cellphone.
He was also allegedly in an online relationship with a 15-year-old, which included the exchange of explicit photographs.
Peaseley had previously worked at the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science and the Match Charter School in Boston, prosecutors said. The O’Bryant School in Roxbury is a Boston Public Schools high school.
Peaseley’s online relationship with the 15-year-old lasted for about a year, federal prosecutors allege. He allegedly told the child to delete their texts and suggested using a different platform.
Federal prosecutors said Peaseley and the child exchanged photographs, including sexually explicit photos of the child. He also allegedly said he wanted to teach the child “how to kiss, among other sexually explicit activities,” and discussed planning to visit in person.
Peaseley is facing a minimum of five and up to 20 years in prison, up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
