A 53-year-old Quincy man allegedly hit another vehicle in a head-on collision while driving northbound in the southbound lane on I-93 in Methuen in the early hours Monday morning.
The Quincy man, who was driving a 2020 Toyota RAV4, struck a 2021 Toyota Camry, according to a release from State Police.
The driver of the Camry, a 21-year-old from Quincy, was pronounced dead on the scene. The wrong-way driver was transported to the hospital where he later died, police said.
The crash also reportedly caused the Camry to hit a third vehicle. The driver of the third car was not injured, authorities said.
State Police and crash analytic divisions responded to the scene with Methuen police, fire, and EMS shortly after 2 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police.
