The Cape Cod Canal has seen its fair share of travelers, and not just the ones looking to take a vacation.
The critically endangered right whales often pass through the waterway, humpback whales sometimes surprise boaters, and even a black bear took the swim.
Another strong swimmer trekked across the canal on Friday, Massachusetts Environmental Police shared.
This time, a white-tailed deer swam to Cape Cod in a video shared by Environmental Police. The deer, with just its head above the calm water, swiftly reached the shore before climbing the rocky terrain and disappearing into the woods.
The environmental agency joked on Facebook that the deer was simply trying to avoid Cape traffic.
“It’s a creative solution, but we certainly don’t recommend it!” they wrote.
